CREW

OUR CREW

Stardust Boat Trips employ a highly experienced crew expert at navigating around the waters of Skye, Raasay and Rona. All our crew are qualified and have years of experience at sea.

DAN
Born and raised on the Isle of Skye, Dan is a true Sgitheanach! Dan has been running Stardust Boat Trips since 1998 with the aim of sharing the breath-taking scenery Skye has to offer with the thousands of tourists who visit each year. Having spent over 40 years sailing the waters around Skye, you’ll struggle to teach this old sea dog a new trick.
IAIN
A native of Skye, Iain has long been keen to share his knowledge of the local area with people. In addition to being a local, Iain is also a fluent Gaelic speaker, and will be happy to answer any of your language-related questions, be it at sea or on land!
TOMMY
Tommy may as well have been born in the sea! This native Skye man has been sailing the waters around Skye since he was about knee-height, in a multitude of different vessels, primarily fishing and fish-farming. With over 40 years’ experience, on Skye’s waters, Tommy is very well-versed in the local landscape and wildlife. You’ll be sure to get a bit of craic and as well as extensive knowledge from this local character.
COLL
Coll has been interested in the sea ever since he was young, gaining plenty of sea experience at the local sailing club from a very young age. Now a fully qualified powerboat Skipper, as well as a student naval architect, the maritime life comes naturally to this young, enthusiastic Skye local, with a passion for wildlife to boot.
WILLIE
Willie is a man with strong Skye heritage, with grandparents hailing from Edinbane. Although brought up in Inverness, he spent many summer holidays in Skye, and moved here over 30 years ago as a police officer, and raised his family in the west side of the island. He also has extensive sailing experience within the Scottish west coast, as well as being a long-time crew member of the former Go to St. Kilda boats that ran out of Waternish. As a man with a constant appetite for a blether, you’ll be sure to end a fantastic trip with this skipper on a first name basis!
WARREN
Warren came to Skye about 30 years ago, becoming a vastly experienced Skipper through his time spent fish farming out of Sconser, about 11 miles south of Portree. Since coming to work with Stardust, Warren has amassed an excellent knowledge base of the local scenery and wildlife, and will be more than happy to help answer any questions you have when you are aboard.
David
DAVID
Hailing originally from Cumbria, David moved to Skye around 50 years ago. In his time here, David has skippered fishing boats, cruises as part of his own business all around the West Coast of Scotland, mainly on his ocean going sailing ketch, as well as as a skipper for other companies. He is a qualified RYA Yachtmaster Ocean Instructor, under power or sail, and his vast experience has taught many a future skipper. In addition to this, David also holds a degree in Marine Biology, which comes in rather handy when delving into the the detail of some of the aquatic life we encounter on our trips, as well as possessing excellent knowledge of the local area and its geology! You’ll be sure to learn a thing or two from this scurvy sea dog!
IAIN
Boasting an impressive career spanning 40 years, Iain is one of the most experienced skippers on the island. Having sailed all over the world, Iain is a true globetrotter who has conquered many bodies of water including a crossing of the great Atlantic! As many do, Iain decided to settle down on Skye and, over the past 30 years, has amassed a wide knowledge and understanding of the wildlife and history of the island. As a keen photographer, Iain has organised and operated many photography focused trips and knows exactly how to make your trip picture perfect!
