The Crew

All our crew are qualified and have years of experience at sea.

Dan

Dan

Born and raised on the Isle of Skye, Dan is a true Sgitheanach!
Dan has been running Stardust Boat Trips since 1998 with the aim of sharing the breath-taking scenery Skye has to offer with the thousands of tourists who visit each year.
Having spent over 40 years sailing the waters around Skye, you’ll struggle to teach this old sea dog a new trick.

Iain

Iain

Boasting an impressive career spanning 40 years, Iain is one of the most experienced skippers on the island. Having sailed all over the world, Iain is a true globetrotter who has conquered many bodies of water including a crossing of the great Atlantic!
As many do, Iain decided to settle down on Skye and, over the past 30 years, has amassed a wide knowledge and understanding of the wildlife and history of the island.
As a keen photographer, Iain has organised and operated many photography focused trips and knows exactly how to make your trip picture perfect!

Campbell

Campbell

Campbell moved to the Highlands 5 years ago after being in exile in the Thames Valley for 30 years. He worked on the Thames for 15 years, driving patrol boats for the Navigation Authority as a boatman at the Cliveden Hotel and driving umpire launches and the many rowing regattas on the Thames.

He has a fair bit of sailing experience on the Solent dodging supertankers and also working as a volunteer on a sail training boat out of the River Humber doing Voyages around the UK. Campbell enjoys a good laugh with his passengers and making their trip as memorable as possible. Waffling comes naturally to him and is know to embellish the facts as all good story tellers should!

James

James

Originally from Manchester, James moved to Skye with his parents in 2003.

Growing up on Skye, James found is love of the outdoors, exploring the coastline and the abundant wildlife from his kayak.

Fast forward a few years and James is working in GRP Lamination for superyachts, but the call of the sea was too much so James went to work on the fish farms where he got his Powerboat tickets and commercial endorsements - something that would later come in very handy in his current role as a Skipper with Stardust Boat Trips, where he has the opportunity share his love of Skye and its wildlife with our guests.

Nobby

Nobby

A Skye man with salt water in his veins!

Nobby followed in his father's footsteps and started fishing at the age of 16. In his 40 years on the water, he has worked on fishing boats, RIBs, tugs, landing craft and fish farms. With his excellent knowledge of the sea and endless stories of fact, folklore and down-right fiction, you are sure to have a memorable trip with this cheeky Skye character.
